EXCERPTS FROM: Opera Santa Barbara's production of Gian Carlo Menotti's dark, ominous and sometimes funny The Consul directed by Ensemble Theatre's Jonathan Fox. UCSB Department of Theater & Dance's spring dance concert Five Quiets, a wonderfully varied and provocative program of pieces choreographed by faculty and students. The Santa Barbara Performing Arts Scholarship Fund's annual competition features young classical musicians and singers of exceptional talent. American Dance & Music/Ballet Santa Barbara, in collaboration with Drama Dogs Theatre Co, presented "Up Close and Cultural," an outreach to the public to raise awareness of and instill interest in dance of all kinds.
